What would be the cause of a over modulating T.S. modulator V plus? I have tryed the amp with two radios, one of them is a peaked out 29 nw st and the other a magnum m-1. With the 29, I get reports of myself being all broken up (audio cutting in and out) when I have the power knob around half way and when the knob is all the way up, I'm over-modulated. I have also noticed when I have the power knob all the to the max, there is barely any swing. My dead keys are set below 1 watt. Any ideas? |

How much audio are you feeding the mod v? try turning the mic gain back and see how it is. |

ouch! the m-1 is swinging 1/2 of what the mod-v swings when driven properly. forget the m-1, it ain't gonna work. the 29 ain't gonna work much better if it's keying more then 3 or 4 watts, or swinging more then 10 watts. if dead key is ok, try turning down mic gain to get swing under 10. when radio drive is right, and mod-v is set right, should see 25-40 dk and 80-100 swing. or thereabouts. too much radio=much crunch in the audio. keep it low. |
