Hi Forum,

What is the best oil, sealant or wax that would
work best on metal Antenna elements & rejection
wire??? To help prevent ice buildup, oxidation ect??? What would last the longest before breaking down??? Thanks

Road warrior,I have never sprayed or waxed an antenna to prevent ice buildup but for snow shovels i use a 100% silicone spray available from automotive parts stores.believe it was made by gumout.I need to get a new can so will let you know for sure as soon as i get it

Can the Krylon clear spray also be used on the
copper rejection wire???

i used it for 40 years on everything that rusts it's not perfict but it does help.

there are things sold for fiberglass to protect it some even say they will restore them i would check with a boat supply place on fiberglass ...... you never know.

All of the "build it yourself" antenna articles and books I've read have recommended using marine varnish to protect things like wood booms, wood and bamboo spreaders, and anything else made of wood. I would assume that it could be used on stranded wire and anything else the manufacturer of the varnish recommends.

Bruce has a good idea in checking with a boating supply store. They really know about protecting fiberglass and metals in a marine environment.
