I've had the radio for a couple of weeks now,I've been tinkering around with all the settings, was just wandering if any S3 owners out here would share where they have the settings and what works best for you.

Rhino,

All of the settings were set to the max on the S-3 from the factory.

Sorry, but so far I never found any reason to adjust anything in our S-3 yet as everything is set at 100%.

And with the 3 year warranty I would not mess with anything that might / could void the warranty.

I like the idea of buying a radio that needs nothing done to it right out of the box to perform at 100%.

Just my personal thought's

Thanks for the comeback Lon,but I was kinda wanting to know is it better to run top gun on or off, where to set the power if so,mike gain, etc.,those settings. Just kinda wandering where others have those settings and what settings sound the best for them. Thanks

I run mic gain wide open with RK56B and TG off. With TG on I cut it back a bit. Depending on who or how your radio was tuned my power knob set at 50% (No.5) dead keys approx. 9w and thats how I run with TG off. With TG on I cut it back a bit for more swing and can run it at close range also but usually leave it off unless I need to reach out and touch someone or just need to break through noise. This is something you need to test out yourself as far as the TG goes.Again as long as the right hands have tuned your radio you should have no problem with running mic gain wide open, TG on or off, and at any range. The reason why I cut my mic gain back with TG on is because I drive a noisey Big Truck and the gain is very strong and will suck in background noise even with good noise cancelling mic.As far as echo settings go that is a personal preference on how to set it. I got my echo vol. knob at No.6 and delay knob at No.1. The echo does intensify on my radio with TG on which is only natural due to audio / voltage, etc. increase so you would have to try it out with a trustworthy friend because there alot of echo haters out there who will tell you it's too much even when it's not. Bottom line is you have to experiment on where to set your knobs because every situation is different depending on tuning of radio, your voice and mic being use , type of vehicle, etc. Hope this helps and enjoy your rig.lol

Rhino,

Actually I only use the Top Gun if someone is way out as the top gun will sound distorted and overload the receive on a lot of peoples radios if they are too close.

Mic Gain set at 12 oclock.

We also use the RED CDL-56K DX1 Hand Mic on it as it matches the color of the truck.
