As some of you may know, I have this President Dwight I'm trying to fully resurect. As you may also know...all of the President Base analog clocks are famous for failing. My radio was no exception. Now, I'm no tech or radio repairman. That being said, I pulled the motor for the clock out of the radio last night, took it apart, and noticed that one of the plastic sprockets was cracked. Superglued it together, reassembled everything and wired it back in. Still not working. I took everything back apart and noticed that the gear teeth weren't making good contact, so I bent one of the gears mounting posts so it made better contact with the other gear. I sprayed the inner working down with a little WD-40, reassembled everything and...
Viola! A working clock!

Kind of a long post about something so small, but heck...it made me feel good.

Well it's nice to hear you fixed it. Now how long did you watch it run and smile to yourself? I bet it was a little while, I know I would have! *G* Keep on keeping on.

Its always nice to fix something on your radio no matter how small. I really would like the clock in mine fixed and maybe one day I'll get bored enough to pull it out and mess with it. I liked it when it did work even though there's really not much sense in it being there, but thats how all those older base station's were built. Guess they needed something to take up some space to make them look more impressive. Guess you could use it to log contact times if you are into keeping a log.
