Are these fans very noisy for the ranger 2995. I've got a friend thinking about getting one, he asked me and I haven't had one. He's just got a small desk fan behind his now. I know sitting there on a quite night listening to your radio, a noisy fan can get on your nerves, like some of the older computers. scrapiron

Scrapiron63,

I use the fans on our Saturn Turbo, and our 2995DX and the 2990 when it was working.

Corncob CEF #166 also has one that I installed on his Stonewall Jackson base radio.

They are a MUST for any high-powered radio to keep it cool and something I would personally recommend using.

You will not notice any excessive noise from them as they are pretty quiet and mount directly to the radio in back with the factory mounting screw holes.

Hope this helps,

Thanks Lon, just wondered about the noise of the fans.
They surely do need one, I found that out when the Turbos first came out after I blew the regulators in one. I traded for one Turbo way back there that had been abused so bad the power supply was gone. I hooked it up on an external 35 amp supply and man that thing ran good that way. When I sold it the 35 amp supply went with it and it's still going.

I have a fan kit on my RCI 2995 as well.
Very quiet.
