shhhh, they're sleepin'...
a little crystal oscillator that gets switched into & out of your radio & replaces the 40 cb channels with 40 below 1 & 40 above 40. when modding the grant as an example, by way of switches, you don't get 40 channels below 1, & the channels you do get, well you need a road map to find 'em. the expo kit, you just flip the switch in, & you go 27.415 straight thru the next 40 channels, skipping 'a's' of course. same when you flip switch to below 1's. or go to regular 40. there used to be a LOT of different kits, for tons of older radios, but they're not making some of the lesser used kits any longer. there are no new models either for the newer radios, but a few of the new radios are exact copies of old ones, so...
quite a few places have some, prices around $30, for info, look up...can i say 'lou franklin' here, well if i couldn't, keith, try to google 'expo kits', there is a site that explains 'em, sorta.

These kits are a easy way to add extra channels to most radios. You just solder the wires in place, and there you go. Some radio take two kits, one for lowers, one for uppers. And some just need one kit. Cool way to get some extra channels. Loads of places sell them online. Never had one, but always wanted to try one out.

Those Expo 100 kits are a good way to put a CB on 10 meters, too. You just chunk the crystals that come with it and replace them with 3 that are cut to put you on 10 meters.

I've got a Grant (original) on 10 meters using that method, now. I can cover all of the SSB areas and the AM portion around 29.000 MC.

The "L" kit comes with a very nice switch that I couldn't "home-brew" for the $30.00 the whole Expo kit costs...

Love those Expo Kits!
