Hey guy's, thanx for reading this. I have been to every CB site that exists on the internet and I have seen numerous sites or references to sites about the superbowl. All I can figure out is that it takes place on channel 6 and happens somewhere in the South. I am very interested in what this whole thing is about and how it works. I have also seen links on Dave Made's web site about "Heavyweights". What makes you a heavyweight? I really enjoy reading all the postings that all of you make. Please keep it up and thank you Copper for having such a great resource for us new-bies.

Basically it's a bunch of guys with several thousand watts that key the mic and SCREAM. They have catchy little phrases that they repeat over and over again, ad nauseum. They do this over and over again bleeding over 10 channels up and down from where they are (usually channel 6). I guess they are working AM skip. It's okay though some of us are a little less fortunate than others.

There is a superbowl participant in my state doing 5500 watts running Armadillo gear and I would class him as a heavy weight.

Super Bowl is a general term that applies to channel 6 and not a specifc place in the South or any where else. If you plan to transmit on 27.025 or "The Bowl" as it is called locally, be prepared to spend a lot of money if you want to run with the big dogs. Nothing uncommon on this channel to see 1000 watts of power and that is just the driver! If schuck and jive is your cup of coffee, you are in the right place!!! One thing that you will not hear on channel 6 is a lot of profanity, for the most part it is realitively clean of foul mouth filth except for the occasional agitator. Just a bunch of people trying to have a good time and competing with one another to see who is really the master.

yesterday at the base here i was playing aroung and I hooked up the pc-66a uniden and I made a contact to south carolina BEARFOOT.
but none of the big dogs were keyed up though
and there was a guy claiming to be running 32kw and he was pegging my meter for like 45 min of him talking and he never faded out.
HE WAS LOUD!

and to run that much(i.e. 20kw or more) you realize that it has to be open line transmission.
so basicly they have a big cable like 2gauge are bigger and it rins up the side of a tower. Its nutz. A somone I know has 55kw. He lives in newmexico and i tell you that thing is scary. its in a weatherproof shed outside with copper mesh around it. it will give you a headache being around it (i.e. 60ft)if there was no mesh. its all tetrodes in a triode configuration i think.
his radio is in his basement and he can see te amp and control it all from his basement. its a nice setup and can put the hammer down on ya when he wants.
