Hi everyone! I'm just curious as to what ya'll think to be the coolest radio you've ever seen or used or would love to own? The coolest I've ever owned so far, has been either a Magnum Delta Force, or a Connex 4800. The coolest radio I'd love to own someday would be a Yaseu(sp?), any model, or a Kenwood.

Maybe I'm too much of a newbie around here and have yet to see some special radios in my days to come BUT I cannot ever imagine getting rid of my Grant. Then again I'm a minimalist :-)
Extra freq's and a loose clarifier are in the works.

I am thinking the Galaxy 2547 CB base and the Magnum 257 for a mobile.

I liked the dickens out of my RCI 2950, but it was too big for a mobile and too hard to use while driving. The 257 changes freques AND modes with the memory channels. Also, the 257's inclusion of a stock power mic was a Nice touch.

Lon (Tech808) reports that my stock mic outperforms my D-104 Night Eagle AM and SSB.

As for HAM gear, the AN/URC-35 gets my vote. 2-32 Megs Continuous, AM/USB/LSB 100W and the AM is "Reduced Carrier, Upper Side Band Only". It handles AM like USB with a very small carrier to lock the distant end system, so your modulation is almost 90 Watts.

You ever find one? Suck it up.

Interesting thoughts to my question. For some reason, I wasn't really expecting any replies. I don't know, maybe I'm too hard on myself. I always have been. Hey Crackerjack, I have had a few RCI 2950's and they are great mobiles. I'd also love to get a 2970 sometime.

the coolest radio ever made was definitely my TRC-440 navajo. 40 am channels, volume, squelch, s-meter, the works! well, at least that's how i felt about it when i was 13, being that it was my first radio.

i still think the 2000gtl is a great radio. im always afraid to say most favorite anymore as it changes from week to week.

Well I really like my Connex 4800 too! The Lincolns are really nice and the S-9. Oh and the new Cobras are really sharp looking. This is a really tough question. All are on my to buy list. I did see a thing on the discovery channel about a radio that the military uses in the field. Its actually a computerized radio and can be programmed for any freqeuncy and mode of operation including satellite. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? If so I would like to find some more info on it if possible.
