Howdy folks, how the heck are ya. I haven't posted in a year or two, but I have tried to read the forum every couple of months. Wow, there are sure a lot of members out there now. It's great to see that. I saw a post in the ham section from 2003 about a 6 year old learning morse code that I had put my 2 cents in on. I guess the code debate will never die even with what the FCC has decided. It's nice to know that some things will never ever ever change. Anyway, that post inspired me to say hello to the upteen thousands of members and just generally wish continued success to the Copper folks. Oh, and I can't forget to give a howdy hi to Bruce and remind him to put me in his will. (I want the radios!!) Take care everybody.

Thanx, Bigbob. I have tried to keep my mouth closed and my ears open for the last while. Think I actually may have learned a few things that way. Now I just need to figure out a way to buy some of these new radios, maybe the wife will let me sell some of her scrapbooking stuff??? Yeah right. Good talking to ya!!

Hey Triplecguy,

I just gave a shout yesterday, it's hard to catch up on all the posts so I didn't see this one among many others.

BTW, how did that fancy Midland with SSB and all the channels work out? I've heard many people like them and many have had trouble.

See ya,
Znut

Hey guys, thanx for the comeback. Znut, I can't believe you remember the Midland 79-290!!! It has been a few years hasn't it. And the ever-wise Tech 808, I bow before your superior radio knowledge!!! For starters, the Midland is still up and running loud and proud in the Mazda with a little extra heat and a good ol' 102" whip. I put a channel guard in it and set my dead key at about 0.25 watts to drive the linear, swings to around 250ish. Talks great but the receive still is lacking, its very noisy but it works good. I think the Magnum 257 would have been a better choice but hind sight is always 20/20, right? I have been mostly active in the 2 meter and 440 stuff lately, but I'll never pull the CB out of the truck, it's just to handy to have and works great on road trips and such. Thanx for the howdy Road_Warrior, its nice to feel welcome here. I will definately try and catch you guys on one of the nets here in a few weeks. Till then, take care guys.

Triplecguy,

Thank you for the very nice complement, but I am just like everyone else and learn something new every day.

And sorry to say if I live to be 100 I will never be wise or know everything but I am always willing to learn more every day while I am in this world.

Tech 808 if any of us make it to 100,we will have to have somebody continually remind us of what we already know, was gonna say something else but forgot what it was.Bigbob
