Hey just wanted to take a moment to say Thank You to all who have helped me out and offered up some advice for me.

I am happy to say when my station comes on everything will be grounded as Tech833 suggested. Tech808 and the many others thanks as well. I have the guy ROPE instead of wire now etc., etc.

Things have changed from the original early plans. The system will be a Maco V-5000 connected with LMR-400 coax going to the Workman 3 face meter and Texas Ranger 696F SSB Base with the D452 mic. Of course I have the Polyphaser and ground bar for each piece of equipment and a brand new dedicated outlet for this system and this system ONLY. Plugged into this one outlet is a high end surge suppression bar and into that is another but it is also a UPS so should receive a good clean power supply and a little brown out will be cleaned.

The only things I am still awaiting delivery on is the Maco V-5000 antenna, KLV-1000 amp and LMR-400 coax.

I am hoping that in about two weeks I will be on the air from an all new base unit.

I'm gonna either love ya all or hate ya but regardless I gotta say Thank Ya as I just know I'm gonna love it.

If I still can't make a CEF Contact then I will cry...

Tim

luck with your install. You have bought
some nice equipment and when all is
hooked up correctly, it should work great
for you.

Tim, I will say you have had you share of problems and antenna mishaps.
With a little luck and good DX conditions, I hope to log CEF-634 on the Sunday nets.
Best of luck with the new station and we will be listening for you.

you'll get plenty of contacts CEF and otherwise.
remember theres a whole DX community out there that is not yet hip to the ways of the CEF.
you're gonna hear numbers out there that people just make up like handles.

the only thing standing between you and long distance contancts is the lack of atmospheric conditions that we experience during the low spot in the sunspot cycle we're in.
every 11 years the sunspots reach a peak level.
when that happens the ionosphere is charged and our radio signals bounce off of it and reflect back down to some undetermined point.
this is why long distance communications on the CB are referred to as "skip".(think rocks on the lake)
right now we are at the bottom of the current cycle and conditions come and go and mostly go.
but it can only get better from here and over the next decade we'll all see a big increase in the number of contacts we make.
you can look up more details about this radio phenomenon by doing a search for "sunspot activity" here or on the web.

Yes, 3/16 inch UV treated polyester guy rope. Used on many amateur radio antenna installations. Many people have said they have checked it after as much as 20 years and was still as good as new. It also can be used when putting a dipole antenna between 2 trees or any other need for strong rope.
I have it guying 2 of my installations.

ummm, maybe you forget starface that i live in the desert and if the city found out that i gave away some of our precious water, they'd revoke my lawn watering privliges!

dont panic! on its way to you is a big stick of half melted butter to rub on your ears so you can slide on out of there.

i use the UV rope here. it works great, but it does have an initial stretch period. like one or two good wind storms, so be ready to tighten it up after a month or two.
i will never go back to guy wire unless forced to do so.

I'm trying the 1/8 Kevlar rope/ UV protected
with a Dacron cover. Has no stretch. Is
770 pound test.
I tripled the rope for added strengh.
