Good sounding radio, but very poor quality components. Everything from lights to volume and other pots. Drifts like a sailboat on SSB. I know of 3 of these radios and all have many problems. Also hard to service.

i had one and it only drifts on ssb if you cut the clarifier!! keep the clarifier tied !! the only down grade to me was the poor quality of the channel selecter switch. it stripped out it you wanted to change channels to fast. just try to find a replacement!! but i did. nice radio for decent price and loaded with channels. 25.165-29... any way oh dont peak am over 5 watts radio seems to not like that . just slap a linear behind it. good luck

I traded for the radio after my friend decided that it wasn't as good as he thought it would be after he tuned it up. After I got the radio and replaced the final with a C2166 and lined up the watts. The radio will now dead key around 2-12 watts and swing to 65-70 Peak Swing. True factory, it don't like to go over 5 watts, but after a few modifications, it will scream with modulation that will hold the meter flat over after re calibrating...LOL
