Anyone run a Titan RPSY-485 10 Meter All Mode Mobile Transceiver ? And how do you like it ?

This radio surprised me. It works very well.small in size. I have talked skip all over the usa and behond with this radio. The one thing that i do not like is the very small stock mic it comes with.

guys it is the same as a rad shack but with the modifiable cpu board. All i can say is i was given a htx-10 as a guift last week it is my 3rd and it is dollar for dollar the best 10 meter radio out there. My ranger has been retired to a box along with my last tube type radio it will make a nice backup now.
ps the stock mike is very small and it would be a nice addirion if there is a " power " mike that will work well with this radio .. just a thought . |

any of the astatic mics work great on it.same mic wiring as the blackhawk and sidewinder .I run a hand mike from astatic and I beleave it is the 575m6b.a d104 mic for the mobile and it works great |

Ilike the d104 m6b myself I know on the tips and tricks video 307 installed the 575 mic on it. it also has tone control.some of the guys here are just putting 500 ohm stock mics on them and they are loader than the stock mic, but they are doing it for cost because most of them are retired and on a tight budget.some have tried my mic and like it but do not have the 50 bucks to spend.h.a.g.o. SONOMA. |

I got a Titan II for about $85.00 on eBay as a backup unit for the cars.It is the "single" final version of the Magnum 257 without the variable power control.A British company (RoadPro) had them made for them by Maycom Ltd.in their plant in the Phillipines.RoadPro discontinued them last year so there are a few dealers and individuals who bought up the leftovers.A friend of mine bought his from a truck stop and paid about $150.00 for it last Spring.They are very easily modified and will cover a wide range of frequencies from below 26 MHZ to over 29 MHZ in all modes but CW.They are a neat little unit for the money.
Mine swings to just under 20 watts on AM and about the same on FM and Sideband. I didn't peak it all the way because it doesn't have the heat sink on the back like the Magnum 257 with the dual finals. So far it hasn't given me one ounce of trouble.I really like the up/down buttons on the mic and the compact size.There are quite a few clones of this radio around under different names.Maycom sells the same radio (an Export version)overseas under their own brand name.They are making the new Magnum amateur 2 meter radios which are subject to FCC approval at this time.If RF Limited/Magnum (Maycom) keeps their quality in line with RCI and Uniden (which would be quite a feat) they may capture a good part of the market.They have a few features that I wish my RCI 2950 and 2950DX had.Good luck with your Titan II

I have a Titan RPSY-485 that I got about a week ago. I love it. For some reason I dont receive as well as I did with my Cobra 148 gtl. It could just be the conditions but I sold the cobra so I cant compare. I love the scan feature and the ability it has to show the frequencies or the channel. All reports on audio have been excellent. I have to turn the gain almost off to sound good. overall I give it an A. Darren Las Vegas. 27.475 lsb evenings. |
