Wow, what a nice radio. And real easy to look at. And 12 bands gives one a lot of space to listen, and maybe key up! I haven't had a local radio check yet. But I will tonight, when the crew is on the local channel. I haven't done any DXing yet either. I want to be sure it is sounding OK first. But tomoorw, well skipland will have yours truely waving a hand! *G*

Connex has been making top notch radios for sometime and they probably have sold as many Connex boards as they have radios.Hundreds of old time truckers had Connex boards installed in thier Cobra mobiles.I sold my 4400HP last year and I do miss it.Have a good day and enjoy one of the cleanest sounding radios made.73

Vernonott: You are right, Connex makes alot of echo boards. And I have heard they make a real nice radio. This is my first Connex, and so far I am liking what I see and hear! I am sure this radio will be a fun "toy", as the wife puts it, for many moons to come. Unit 512 is waving a hand from Mooseland!

Hey, tell me how you like it. I just bought mine not too long ago. I love mine so far. The only problem I have with it now is the swr meter doesn't work. Does it work on yours? On mine, no matter what when you switch it on and key up it stays on 0dbs.

B1kshad0w: I love the radio. She is going to be a fine talker, with out a doubt!

As for the SWR, first push the S/RF button to the out position. Then push out the SWR/CAL button out, turn the CAL knob to CAL on the meter, then push the SWR/CAL button in. It will tell you the SWR. Then make sure to push the S/RF button back in. So your meter will go back to RX mode. That's all there is to it bubba! *G*

RCI2990: glad to hear your 2600 is working out so well. She is a great little radio! *G*

I have the Echo model. In the user manual it says it is auto calibrated. Mine doesn't have a calibration knob.

Well I really don't have a swr problem. So I don't need to check it to often. But I was playing with it, and tried it out. I have been told the swr in a radio, is not as good as having one inline. But I have had one inline as well, and it says the same thing. Nice low swr. And that's a good thing, after all, I don't want to hurt the new radio!

Vernonott: I do get worked up. The wife think's it like I am 5 again! Well at least I am having a good time. And if I can spread the joy on the forum, well that can't be bad thing, can it? *G*

RIC2990: I am using a power mic, funny thing is, the stock mic was fine, when I tried the power mic, no difference. But with the power mic, I can key up when my elbow if I am into a CB repair job.

Now there a picture for you. Me keying the mic with my elbow, while the soldering gun is deep inside some poor mobile radio!
