We had one of our typical thunderstorms. I saw a bright light thru the front door, then I saw a bright light at the rear of the house, then the boom.
Polyphasers work!
I lost my router, and the cable people came out to make their repairs. They have me back up but there is line damage and they will have to come back in a couple of days. I should have the router replaced by then. I don't know if it got my LAN cards on two of my wired computers but the wireless ones are working slowly.
Now the bad news, but also good. I cranked up my radio and my SWR were high: 1.7 on my Autek meter. i went outside and disconnected from the polyphaser and my Autek tester said I had 1.9 at 27.285.
I am going to try and replace the connector first at the polyphaser end of the coax before I tilt the tower. i guess I have my excuse to put up the beam.
Has anyone ever repaired a I-Max 2K?
If your wondering, I had the wrong coax disconnected on my switch. I had the paint can disconnected instead of my antenna, thankfully the polyphaser saved the radios and other expensive accessories.

WELCOME TO THE:
ELITE POLYPHASER SURVIVAL CLUB 
I also took a DIRECT hit to my Imax 2000 during the Sunday CEF Radio Club Net's and ALL of our Radios and Equipment were SAVED and 100% UNDAMAGED!
Our Imax was blown, shredded and melted into several 100 pieces.
The coax was melted together for about 40 or 50 feet.
I just flipped my antenna switch to another antenna and kept right on talking on the Nets. 
SUGESTIONS:
#1 ~ REPLACE the Gas Discharge tube in the Polyphaser!
#2 ~ Throw the old coax away and replace with new coax.
#3 ~ Do not try and repair the Imax as I doubt there is anything left to repair.

Very true.
I am just glad that I have proper grounding, and that polyphaser. If I had not had that polyphaser I would be looking at being off air for a very long time because of my mistake in disconnecting the wrong coax from the switch. The bad ting about this is my complacency, my coaxes are labeled and I still disconnected the wrong one.
Oh well, that's life. I am in the process of moving my station to another area of the house so I will check out the antenna and coax during the move. I hope i am able to set my equipment up like I have it visualized in my head. If I can I will have plenty of work space for all my hobbies.

My parent hosue was hit by two simulatenous strike (1988) - one hit the tv antenna and the other the actual power feed to the house.
A[art form several lgiths that had bulbs now welded in and a fool filter that took damage and my UNPLUGGED computer, the tv lost about a foot of coax, the diplxer (well I found the box, but no contents) and the neon light that was connected directly across the antenna socket. replaced all those and the the tv worked fine. IN fact dad gave the tv to a charity anout a year back - still working

well polypharser or not i play it safe and disconnect everything coax and electrical connection
