How do i turn the knobs down? even on low its way too bright in the cab of the truck. Its actually dangerous because it blinds me so bad. I either turn it off or throw a shirt on it. Any real ideas how to turn the lights down... Ballwrecker..... rollllling... |

Jay, If it was my radio I would try to put it on the man himself Mr. Sam Lewis. call him up, 1-877-624-6869 or e-mail him up, saml@rflimited.com May also try posting this question in: Manufacturers Questions>>RF Limited/Magnum Sometimes you can get feedback from the man himself. Never know Sam might just take care of ya! KEEP IT REAL! Kenny cef491(27.115lsb) 2sf491(27.555usb) Indiana

I did call, and was told the best way to deal with it, is as follows. Drill a 1/4 inch hole in the back of the chassis. Install a 2 position micro switch and interupt the lighting circuit for the knob lights. Then they can actually be turned off!!! They are actually Led's and cannot be dimmed enough, otherwise. marven |

Marven, if you interrupt the lighting circuit for the nitro knobs you should be able to wire 2 legs of a variable resistor into play there and be able to dim the LED's by limiting the amount of current available to them. I would use something on the order of a 5k or 10k linear taper pot and wire through the hot side of the voltage supply line with one side going to an outside leg of the pot and the other going to the middle. |

Bandit...I've never had much success in Dimming LED lights. Only thing I've done was increase voltage to make them a little brighter...till they blow out forever. On or OFF is your only real solution other than trying to find a way to "shade" them a little. If you drop voltage they won't get much dimmer before they stop "lighting"...not noticably dimmer anyway. Hank~CEF559/CEFHAM242 KC2RIW Eastern Long Island NY

After talking with Chris today at the Factory Magnum Service Repair Center he has a helpful "TIP" that might help Nitro Knob owners who find them just way too BRIGHT and Distracting at night. On his radio with Nitro Knobs he replaced the Nitro Clear Control Knobs on his radio with regular Chrome Knobs and it gives the face plate a "BACK LIT" look which is not as bright as the clear control knobs. Or you can do like I did and just remove the cover and clip/snip 1 wire from each Nitro Knob. NOTE! Be sure to leave enough space so that you can splice the wires back together if you ever decide to get rid of your radio.
