I just bought a Uniden radio.A PC 78xl.It seems like a well built radio. It doent have all the bells and whistles on it like a galaxy or a ranger, but still seems realy solid. This is only my second Uniden. The first being a 520.Small but powerful sound. It was my dads wich he used for years in his truck and now I have it.I have had many other radios also.A few Cobras, A couple of galaxy's, and a few rangers. All of them being very good radios.I guess I have very good luck with them because I have never had a problem with any of them.NEVER.I think as long as you keep you hands out of them(if you dont know what you are doing)they should give you years of good use.But back on the subject at hand, Does anyone else have any opinions on Unidens? It seems to have the same board as the Cobra 29.They have the same vr adjustments.

I think you hit the nail on the head. I have only owned about 10 radios in my life, mostly being the wally world specials, and never even knew what a SWR was until I had been talking for a year, and never damaged or had a problem with one of them. If you don't open them up, I bet there would be a whole lot less problems no matter what brand you use. But then again, sometimes half the fun is just tinkering with them to make them "your" radio. I now have a Uniden PC68XL and it is a damn good radio!! It doesn't have a bunch of bells and whistles, and that automatic squelch thing just aint doing anything with all of the skip that's been around lately, but it is solid as a rock. I get a lot of compliments on the strong clean audio, and I think the receive is darn good too. I run it into a Palomar 250, and on just low power it is more than enough to make that contact clean and clear. From what I have read, Uniden's have a real loyal following and are built very well. Of course they are not the cheapest you can buy, but I think mine was worth every dime. And yes I bought it at wally world too!
