Well I just got my kl-40 from Copper today and I am very happy with this tiny amp. In my mobile I run a stock old Realistic-453 and wanted just a little bit more power and it does that great, I get a solid 35-watts AM and up to 50-watts on SSB and the amp stays cool. Now I can talk to the locals on the other side of town with no problem. Before my signal was right at the noise level. This amp did exactly what I hoped it would do, I get out alot further with just a small amount of added watts. That's all I wanted to do and now it turns my $35 radio into a much bigger radio.

Be sure you are running them no more than 2 watts in or poof. But they are great little amps for exactly what you are using them for. I used one for years and upgraded to the 203. Sold it to a friend and he didn't follow the 2 watt guidelines, poof withing a week.

I have a lil will mag mount on the bed rail of my truck. I used to talk maybe 7-miles ssb but that was out of range of the locals I talk to from my base. The guys are 12-15 miles away and now my signal is enough over the noise level to talk quite well to the guys.
