Hi people,

I got a good condition Yaesu FT-747GX. It came with the classic MD-100 mike. I also have an galaxy echo talk lock, but when I installed it sounded some distorted and ugly, even when I put the MODUL just below 1 in the 1 to 10 modul scale.

I was thinking on buying an Astatic D104M6B. But my question was. Is the FT747 sensitive to power mikes? It will do the same with the D104 as with the Galaxy echo talk lock power mike? Anyone has experience with that combination of the D104 with the FT? Or any other configuration that any of you could suggest me!

Any help will be very aprecciated.

I have had a 747, the best radio I have ever owned. I owned the Heath 1400, the same radio but different name. Both prefered the stock mic. I could never get a power mic that sounded to good on them. As with most HF radios, they seem to work better with the stock mic. Or a power mic made by the same compnay. IE, Heath, Icom, Yaesu. I would try their mics, you will get better results I think. Just my two cents!
