I have one. It is a great HF/VHF/UHF radio. Great IF DSP. Noise Blanker works great.

But....it is not a great AM radio. I don't use AM but I do know a CBer here that used one on CB AM and was very disappointed with it. There also seems to be a discussion about the stock mic on the internet.

All in all, this is a great ham radio but if you want to modify it and use on CB AM, forget it.

Thanks;
If I get one it'll stay in the bands it's designed for. I want something I can use on trips that won't take up a lot of room. I'll have a good CB as well. You know how it is, while the family's in the pool or a game room you can have some free time.

Best bargain for big performance in Ham radio. The IC 7000 has about all the features of the IC-756 pro plus 2 meters and 440. Next to that, and I might add works pretty good on cb when converted, the Yaesu FT-857D. It's about half the price of the Icom 7000.
