Was lucky enough to be at an auction and find a President John Q. It looked like it had lived in someones farm truck for years as it was dirty and the knobs showed wear. It had a antenna with it that looked to be one someone who knew nothing about radio would purchase. Ended up getting it for one crisp dollar bill. Took it home and cracked it open, pots still had wax and the modulation was at about 50%. Turned it up to about 90% with stock mike, dropped the dead key to 1.5. Was showing about 7 watts pep. Turned it up to 8 watts dead key and it showed about 12 watts pep. So I dropped it back to 1.5 dead key and ran it with a 667. Talked to my locals at about 25 miles and received a "don't know how you could sound better" audio report. So what does anyone know about these radios? |
