--I'm surprised I have not seen these two radios listed in the forum (unless I simply overlooked it). These are two new mobile CB radios by Uniden with a cool looking digital display. Copper Electronics has them, in fact. At least in my opinion, these are the best looking mobile CBs out there. I've no idea how they perform, though. They are somewhat reminiscent of the older style President AR-44 or the Uniden PC-66A (totally different looking than the Uniden 66...the "A" is a different faceplate).
--I have not noticed a Sideband version yet (I hope they call it "Grant" again), but hopefully, it is in the works. It's nice to see this "radical" facelift for a mobile CB radio. I think I will sell one of my CBs and buy one, lol. |

I have seen pictures of the Bearcat 980 SSB radio on the web. Maybe it's coming out soon? |

Will be interesting to see how they do especially the sidebander but I have a feeling they might be a bit cheapo. We'll see!

I have both the Uniden BC880 and the Cobra 29LX radios.
The Uniden BC880 is new from front to back whereas the Cobra 29LX is the same radio except a new front panel has been added with programable features.
The Uniden BC880 receiver seems more sensitive and pulls in distant stations better at my base station than the Cobra 29LX.
The talkback also works much better on the Uniden BC880.
Since I received the Uniden BC880 the Cobra 29LX has been sitting on the shelf more so I guess I like the Uniden BC880 best. |
