Mike,
I agree.I have tried to use the DSC in every situation possible and I dont see where it does any good. The other useless feature is the delta tune.Of course they have always been useless.I had mine removed and put in an echo board in its place.I reaaly like the Uniden radio though, It is nice and loud with nothing done to it but peaked out.My opinion is that Cobra and/or uniden should make a 10 meter radio comparible to the galaxy or the Ranger.

I thought that the DSC was like an automatic squelch where you didn't always have to play with the knob. When I turn DSC on, nothing happens unless I turn the RF gain all the way down and then it gets quiet. But then what's the point? I have a feeling that when the sunspot activity calms down in about 2 or 3 years, it will work a little bit better. But it is to hard to filter out the 10+ pounds of skip that is always present. All in all, I'm sure it was a good idea, it just didn't work out very well. But at least you have a switch that can be used for something else. Also, has anybody else noticed that the bright/dim switch makes like absolutely no difference in brightness? What a waste of a switch.

wow....i cant believe the reviews here ... i owned a 68ltw, had channels and a 10k put in it, thought it was the best radio i ever had for noise .... i would set the rf gain about 1/4 off, the squelch about 1/3 off .... hit the dsc and it was OUTSTANDING .... nothing but loud skip, but mostly nothing but locals .... i was stupid to get rid of it ......

If I am not mistaken, Soundtracker only works effectively if you are talking to someone with a soundtracker and you are on a soundtracker.
I could be wrong, but I don't think so.

Basically what the "Sound Tracker" does is narrow up the width of the frequency. By not using the whole frequency, you don't hear all the noise on the air. The closest thing I can compare this to is a DSP filter. A Digital Signal Processor narrows up the width of the audio frequency.

I use a MFJ-784 DSP that can make any receiver so tight that you hear absolutely nothing other than the spoken voice. Zero static.

Jeff.
