I just got my KL 203P hooked up. Works great. I am running a cobra 29lx, astatic 636 mic, 2 watt dead key, swinging to 15 watts, swr on all 40 channels is 1.1, using a wilson 1000 mag mount. With amp on, im dead keying 40 watts and swinging to 150 watts. Loud and clear reports from 12 miles away. Saturday i made my first DX contact, im in Michigan and talked to a base station in North Carolina with a nice and loud report, granted the weather was just right. I highly recommend this little unit to anyone, worth the money.

Good report!

With that much swing from the radio, you may want to get a TVI filter from Copper. Put it between the radio and amp so you have a better chance of staying out of nearby electronics and keep friendly neighbors.

I would turn my dead key down just a little. 1 to 1 1/2 watts max is what I've found works best with the KL amps. I've run a KL-203 for over 13 years. And they are still going strong. Many of the Copper members that ran a 2 watt dead key have found that the amps didn't last very long! I feel they are the greatest little amp made. But they just don't like to be driven too much. Enjoy your toy! You have a pretty good combo!

I wonder if they work on FM, just curious, would be nice if they did to use it on 10 meter fm.

When i bought the radio it had a swing kit installed, with that, is there still a way for me to turn down the dead key a little more or would it require replacing parts?
