nope never tried that one. however i did try the gpk on the a99. seemed like it MIGHT have made antenna a lil quieter. the maco gpk however if i remember correctly. ARE 102 inches [or close to it] they might be worth trying.ive always wondered why they solar con made these gpk and they were always too short.imho i think the maco boomer is worth tryng or use 102 whips in the factory gpk mounting bracket.

DALE
I have tried the grnd plane on the IMAX I didn't see much of a difference. you are right they are short also, you would think they would be 102 inch at least.

yes one would think so. one idea i had yrs ago .just use 102 whips they have the same threads as the gpk from solarcon.or like i said earlier the boomer might worth a try. from what i could find o web bout them [not much] is i believe there the same lenth as the radials on the maco 5/8

The Imax 2000 won't care if the ground planes are 66" (like the GPK kit) or 102" like the boomer. Either will work the same.

Unlike a 1/4 wave ground plane antenna, the Imax is self-resonant, so all the radials do is help uncouple the coax from the feedpoint.
