Anyone have the Sirio Tornado 27? Was wondering how it compares to the A-99, Imax-2000, or the Maco base antennas? Thanks!!

I know of at least two people locally that have the Tornado and really like them . Very good signals from both of them. In my opinion I would say the Tornado is just as good as the Maco or the Imax 2000. 73

I think when you compare a product to another that the product you compare it to must be the better product of the two. In other words the a-99 and the IMAX 2000 must be better. I have both the a-99 and the IMAX 2000 and the 2000 out did the a-99 . As far as the Tornado I can't say

All are great antennas in my opinion. It all depends on the height and tune.

Are you considering buying one, there is a great article on the forum,i think its called how to choose a antenna, Tech 833 is the author i think. I dont own one but i do know this having moved a couple of times over the years i found that antennas dont work the same in different locations as i had to change antennas because my old antenna didnt perform as well at my new place.. Also if all things are equal sometimes i think it is how much confidence you have in your antenna, sounds stupid but if you are constantly second guessing your antenna you arent going to be satisfied with it. If you have $200.00 to spend , spend most of the money on antenna and coax, a good antenna and coax will make a 5 dollar radio sound like a 100.00 radio. I havent heard anything bad about the sirio tornado. Give us some feedback if you get it..

good luck

The Tornado 27 is a 5/8 wave ground plane. Very similar to other 5/8 wave ground plane antennas.

Should have slightly higher gain than an A99. However, you have to mount the Tornado 27 pretty high above ground and other obstacles for it to have gain on the horizon. Otherwise, much of your signal will be wasted warming the clouds.
