Picked up a neat little amp. its a JB 200A. I was wondering if they had a SSB delay? Mine seems to work good on SSB with no chatter or cut out.

I know a guy who said he found a JB 2000 watt modulator. Is there such a thing?

They made a JB 2000 amp. I knew a guy that ran a JB 2000 and he said it worked great! They used 3-500Z's inside the amp. Back in the day Black cat was a pretty good amp company. But this was a tad before my time!!
That little JB 200A works pretty slick. IMHO i think it might be a modulator more than an actual linear just by the way it keys up and swings to beat heck. I did find some tubes for it though on a website that sells guitar amp tubes. $99.95 a matched set or 8417's so if the ones in mine ever go out i know were to find a set although they are kinda pricey.

Yup. They are 8417s but i dont know what brand they are as they are not marked at all besides the 8417 numbers... Look alot like Guitar amp tubes... In fact i looked on a websit that sells guitar amp tubes and they still carry GE 8417s in matched sets...

Well the tubes are in great cond in the amp itself. That little JB 200 is a real scrapper of a little amp!;-) Lots and lots of swing. Id like to see if i can find a different cover though because the one on the amp has been drilled into and someone mounted a fan on to the way it looks. Also the front of the amp has a switch mounted that is not stock..

My little jb 76 driver runs those 8417's As for the JB 2000 they were good amps very similar to heathkit 220's. They even produced a band switch for them. I regret selling mine you cant beat a 3-500z tube but I have to live with my neighbors and it was just too much temptation. Think they go buy wawassee now.

Wawasee is history now... The owner was busted not by the FCC but by the IRS back i think in 1998..... :-(

I used to visit them when they were over in Syracuse, Indiana and just sit and watch the guys work on radios and amps. Learned a lot about radios and amps too!
