Hello,
Could you please tell me if yours is the proto-type or are they ready to ship. How much did it cost? Is the antenna heavy? I plan on mounting one on a 20' push up pole on my roof with a brace at about 7' up the pole. I cannot put up guy wires because I rent and I am lucky enough to get permission to put up an antenna. Do you think it will be OK without guy wires? Maybe I should just get an army stick so that the neighbors don't flip out.

Well Michael, the I-10K is a fine antenna. No! my antenna is one of the first production products Jay has built and it has been modified a little from the original proto-types he first produced. It is a bit on the expensive side for 11 meter antennas, about $250+ shipping, but one can justify that easily considering the many advantages it offers. See my first report on the I-10K for the features.
I love to work with and discuss antennas. That is my passion. I build and mess with antennas all the time and I drive some of my local buddies nuts talking antennas. Believe me, this one is great, you will love it. No! It is not heavy, but it is big, and that is simply because it has 4-9' ground radials. It is sort of imposing looking up there in the air. I am an able 64 years old and I can handle this one all by myself with no problems. That is a requirement for everything I do with antennas however, I must be able to handle it by myself. I just don’t have time to wait around for some bud(s) to show up to help.
Michael, you may find your neighbors showing concerns only if you are causing some type of RF interference, and if you cause interference it won't mater what you have put up there, they will complain. Something to consider in your case is that many (not all) end fed fiberglass antennas are noted to be guilty of sometimes causing a great deal of TVI type interference even when using a barefooted radio. On that count though I think you will just have to take your chances. If you look around on these radio related forums you will find many discussions on the TVI issues. Copper’s forum, for one, has some good reports on the Imax and the A99 that touch on the TVI related issue. My own dissecting and examination of the A99 confirms their conclusions.
TVI concerns was one of the design issues that Jay wanted minimized in his new 1-10K antenna and I think he was successful at making that happen. His I-10K antenna is noted to be less prone to that problem and that is partly because of its ground plane system but mostly likely because it has a raised insulator moving the radiating element up out of the disturbance field at the feed point. The big deal with the I-10K response is how well Jay's feeder balances the resistance and the reactance in the antenna, and how precise of a tune one can get with the trombone shaped coil tuner. You will love this antenna. In my 30 years of experience I can honestly tell you that this is by far the finest all around antenna for 11 meters I have ever built. The antenna response is great and Jay’s docs are right on the money. Set it and forget it. It is almost like plug & play. I will bet you that if you follow the docs and use the math Jay provides, you will see it get flat right where you want it and you won't need (it would be nice though) an analyzer.
Jay is currently designing an insulated driven element multi-element beam using another form of his hairpin feeder and you can bet I will be ordering one. I have a homemade 4 element gamma fed yagi that will be hard to beat for all around performance but you can bet it won’t stop me from ordering one of Jay’s beams. But I know his feeder will be an improvement over the lossy gamma match designed antennas.

not having a ground plain for those end feed fiberglass antennas, as well as not running a balun will increase the probability for tvi in those antennas.
i think the groundplain kits should come with the antenna as part of it instead of as a kit.its a way to get extra money from the consumer is how i see it.
thats like making someone a 4 element beam and saying i need 40 bucks extra if you want a reflector element.(do what!!)

I just think that it's nice someone put quality and customer service back into a product. That is why my next antenna will be from Jay. Those two things mean everything to me, and I'm willing to drop the bucks to help a small business out.
It may be some time, but I want one of those antennas, and that is my reasons why I'll spend the bucks. I love my IMAX 2000, and it's cheaper, but the next one will be from Jay. Life is short, and it's only money.....

Well you could but you would need to get it Above the Tallest Spreader of the Beam.
You would probably need a Good Re-inforced Mast pipe at least a 10' mounted to the Mast pipe holding the Beam.
The added wind load would require a GOOD HEAVY DUTY ROTOR.
As Tech833 did the Review on the I-10K he can probably answer this better than I can.
Right now my SE White Lightning is on a 10' re-inforced 2 1/2" mast pipe with Black 2 1/4 " Gas Pipe bolted inside, so that the Bottom Spreader Element's clears the tower.
To add another peice for an Omni would make 20' of Pipe sticking up there with No Support.
The SE weigh's 20' without Coax so figure 20' plus what the 10K is plus the weight of 20' of re-inforced mast pipe and that is a bunch of weight sticking up there with No Support above the tower.
For My Anttron 305 I mounted it Below the beam on a stand off on the tower.

Question for Tech 808,
I'm very interested in getting a S.E. White Lightning 4 ele. beam.
How does this beam perform?
What kind of match do you get over the 40 channels? Are they easy to match in?

My Beams Performmance is Nothing Short of Excellent! 
If you follow the Assembly Instructions Very Carefully you should have no problems.
Make sure all of your equipment and tower and antenna is grounded well and adjusting the SWR is not hard. And have at leat foru friend on hand to help out.

I'm alittle baffled on how to join. Its not your
instructions or anything.
I don't have anything that says forum membership
up in the left hand corner or any place on the page.
Had my wife look for it also, she couldn't find it either....I'm baffled!
I have coppertalk,product reviews,and name of topic up in upper left corner.
Went to main page by clicking Coppertalk, I just don't see anything that says Forum Membership.
