Yeah, I'm looking into getting one also. Does anyone know the mods for extra channels and how to tune and peak it?

I just bought a ranger 6900f-25.took me and a friend 2 hours to figure out the mod for channels goes from roughly 24 to 29 megs.problem is cannot find the limiter "what is it anyway?" Q43? cause they dont put numbers by the microparts.its a great radio with the features but am disgusted that have to wait til I find some body to help me modify it the way I want it. but really dont like the idea of the microparts i just wasted a good 320 dollers on this radio. feels like a stock radio with out the power I am used to with power modifications.guess will put on shelf use as a paper weight.

just bought a6900f25 myself to use in my big truck at work.wanted channels and ssb along with echo.seemed to be a good buy for the money i paid.had it tuned and aligned.radio had power(im not using amps or linears).receive was excellent.however the audio wasn't loud.not much difference with mic gain up all the way. friends told me my pc76xl which is 8yrs. old and has been peaked and tuned sounded way better. was told i shoulda went with the galaxy 99. have 30 days to return

Save your $. Put the pc76xl back in the truck. Good little radio.

The 99v is a little touchy with sooo many bells and whistles, SSB is REALLY in and out with drift. It's expensive too, BUT it can be modded for swing and audio. If you like Galaxy get the 33,... it's a pretty solid little radio.

Only 2 cents,

Put a 6900 F150 in my truck. Took out a Mirage 88. With my amp still deadkeying the same I got 100 watts more out of the amp.. Counter seems to fluctuate more than I like, but never had a bad report, seems to stay on target just the counter moves. Makes for a good radio when you don't want to cut on amp. since the power is so good.

Nomeancity --- coppers dont carry them anymore but if you can find one-- the ranger 696... i bought this radio from a local guy he did it all up... it is the best radio i have owned yet... it has good audio*even with the stock mic*, the ears on them are good as long as you use a ext. speaker. very easy to work.. i have mod to use the nb/anl an the counter button... this would be my choice for a radio... he got the radio doing like dead key 3 swing to like 15-16 on am and a swing of 28 on ssb... set just right if you want to run some white lightening...
