hooser i have found on my own amp that the draw is agout 2 watts of power for 1 watt output so my guess would be for 1600 out you need 3200 in or 300 amps my 300 watter draws ( fm class c) 45 amps maxed out.

Not sure what you were saying there Bruce, you might edit that post alittle. A 1600 will pull 120-140 amps depending on the installation and drive.

for 1600 in at 12 volts you would need about 120 amps i asumed this a 1600 output amp the best ive seen is about %50 so you would need 3200 watts in or about 300 amps SO this is INPUT not OUTPUT is 1600.

Sixkiller.
What id like to do is run one off of 2 70 amp supliers. Yeah i know what you mean i never mention any wattage readings i see on my meter on this or any forum because it will cause a "fuss" and an argument over what YOUR meter sees. Not worth it to me...

Hoosier, if you don't want to risk trying to run those two power supplys like that, which i'm told it will work but be careful.....ha..., you might get with a guy named Rolling Radio's. He has the line on some big 100, 150, and 200 amp power supplys. And the page I checked on the 1600 says 1200 watts at 100-130 amps of draw. And that is with 100 watts of swing input. If you just run say a 2950 wide open into to it it won't even break a sweat and do 700 or so at less then 100 amps draw. Ok have a good one ,Later.

Hi Guys-n-Gals,

I run a TS sweet 16 using a cobra 3900 and a TS mod-V as a driver (Am only). The Cobra is set to 2 watts dead key (no mod), and swings to 8 with 20Klhz tone. The mod-v pushes out 60-85 watts, drawing about 12-15 amps (cooling fins get slightly warm to the touch). The TS-16 puts out a clean 775-850 watts and draws about 85 to 95 amps. I'm using 8 AWG to feed the set up. I'm running a 85 amp alternator (with cooling fins)into two 1200 CCA truck bats. The bats are set up in series (positive to positive, neg to neg)and I've never had any problems over the last 5 years. Just a heads up, be careful running anything over 750 watts in 98 or newer autos. Some models use brain boxes which are not sheilded. I placed mine into a metal box (toatlly enclosed except for the harness entry) and grounded it to the frame with 10 AWG. I replaced my brain box twice in one month, since adding the metal box set up, its been fine.
