My amp showed up today.

I have a magnum 257 radio with variable power knob. How much power is it going to take to make this a happy amp....

I have the magnum set at one watt deadkey on low power.

I have heard 2 1/2 watts in would be pretty good.

thanks

watch that knob!!! I have a 257 also and that little unit blows some serious smoke. Ive lost one amp already. Get an in line meter and set it at 2 to 3 watts. Protect your investment.

I also run a pal 450 or magnum 4500 as it is also known as. I drive it with a 2950 at about 4 watts and 3/4 mod. The only problem I had was trans. lock up at full power. I am trying ferite chokes at each coax terminal as advised to see if it will resolve the problem. Email me for results. Other than that.... no complaints. Very good audio checks. But still haven't measured output power yet. Anyone know what the claims are ?????
