My mike on an old sidewinder quit working, and I was wondering if someone had any input on what kind of mic to replace it with. The mic on the sidewinder runs off the radio, so would I need to buy the same kind or an power mic with a battery?

Thanks
Luckyman

Hello,

I would go with the Silver Eagle because it looks great and is a really good sounding mike. Everyone that I talk to on the radio has it and they sound great!! It has a really nice sound to it and compares with nothing else. It does require a 9V battery. You don't have to get the same mike that came with it. Just figure out how to wire it up to your radio. I hope I was helpful and if u need anymore help, e-mail me at kc2hsu@arrl.net. TTYL.

I have asked this question before and I would assume it is just filling page space until they have another product to replace it.

The absolute best sounding microphone for use on a base (to me at least) is a Fentone 500C head on a D104 base! I have had a 1953 Fentone 500C on a D104 since 1968 and I still use it every day (I just found and purchased a brand new 1953 Fentone 500C head for $190.00 from a company in Canada). Theyt use 2 crystal mic elements and look fantastic! Go to my company website at www.audiotronics.bravepages.com/rfprod01.htm to see a Fentone.

I have the Fentone head too, got it from Wes in Canada as well...It works well for me, unless I try to use an amp--Then I have a feedback problem. Anyone experienced this?
