What mike do you guys think would sound better on a 2510- a handheld d104 or the 575-m6.I know the 2510s audio doesnt have a lot of bass and the 575-m6 has an adjustable tone control. Also do the tone/volume controls on the side of the 575 mic get in the way and move around when talking? |

Bman02, I have the Lincoln with the handheld D104 (M6B). It will make your radio talk very well. On the other hand, those 575's will do the same but with tone control. I have never played with the 575's, just heard them and everyone I've ever talked to with one sounded superb and loved them. Bottom line, take your pick on whether you want tone control, or pick the shape (M6B is squareish, 575 is teardroped). Astatic make great mic's. Either will sound awesome on your 2510! Alsworld |

Probably a mute point by now, but I've run both. I actually did run my 2510 with a M6B mic and the sound was awesome. They didn't have the 575 then. I sold the 2510 for a RCI 2950 and put the M6B on it. Again, nice audio. I now run a RCI 2980 Base with a handheld 575. My audio is nicer. The tone control is set to be almost all the way down. You are right, the 2510 ring a little high on tone. I think the 575 would be the best choice of the two. And no, the controls won't slide when you hold the mike. The tone control is located on the side and more towards the front of the mic, leaving plenty of room for your thumb to securely hold the mike and key up. Happy Modulating. I have found the 575-m6 do be louder than the d104. I tried both of them on my 2970 and the 575-m6 consistently was reportedly "louder" on several independent trials. I then took a look at the Astatic Website and sure enough the specs seem to support that conclusion. The D104-m6b is rated at -44dB while the 575 is rated at -38dB output. |

I had a friend give me a radio check while using a D-104 Special (amplified Base mic.)and a 575-M6 and I was told they sounded very similar, but the 575-M6 had more base. The D-104 base mic. was louder but they said the tone control was nice. With that I would agree with most here and say the 575-M6 was a better choice |

I know this is an old topic but why in the world would Astatic stop making the 575? It's best hand mike ever. If they were still around they would sell thousands. |

Ak3383, When Barjan purchased Astatic back in 2004 Barjan found there was not enough of a demand for the Astatic line of hand mic's so they were discontinued. Copper Talk » Ask The Tech » Microphone Questions » Does ASTATIC still make any mics???? Tech808 Moderator Username: Tech808 Post Number: 14183 Registered: 8-2002 Posted on Tuesday, July 31, 2007 - 3:59 pm: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cowboybob, Sorry but NO Astatic has not produced any microphones for CB/HAM radio use since 2004. ASTATIC and the Astatic Name was purchased by Barjan back in 2004. All ASTATIC Hand & Desk mic's produced since then have been produced/manufactured by Barjan.
