Hello Everyone,
The big fan in the back of my KLV-1000 always seems to shut down too soon after i stop transmitting. But now one of my tubes is shorted out and it looks a bit melted inside, (it started blowing a fuse). My tech told me it's either the tubes running to hot, or they are getting to much voltage. I always run it on the low side 90% of the time & keep it adjusted for a low dead key with plenty of swing, and dont do long winded key downs. My SWR's are flat, but i did find a bad jumper connected to the output side of the AMP to my antenna switch and replaced it. Does anyone know of a way to adjust the fan switch to make it stay on a little longer to keep those tubes a little cooler? What is the best way to get long life out of this type of AMP? BTW it's a great AMP!! Thanks in advance...

the fan turns on when you key the mic. thats what its supposed to do. Keep it cooler where you keep the amp and also better air circulation.

I also run a klv1000p,I had the same problem with the shorted tube once.Make sure you properly load and tune for max power so it is alot easier on the tubes. Also I don't know if you know but the fan runs on low speed as soon as the unit is turned on,this keeps pretty good airflow.Make sure the to vents have nothing over them like radios, counters.meters etc. that blocks the airflow and REALLY heats this amp up quick.Make sure you let the tubes warm-up at least 3 minutes before keydown, this also will lengthen the life of these tubes.had mine for over 2 years and only replaced tubes once, has 1600 watts ssb and 720 on am on my bird meter.
