I had one back in the early 80s. Nice radio.........great AM modulation and SSB is great too. That is the same radio as the President AR-144.
Audio not echo or other gimmicks is #1 with me.....the 244 is loud.

I have a pc244. Has served me well for a lot
in these years. but, mine has a transformer problem. So I bought a Lincoln to replace it.
Anyway, the pc244 IS a very good radio.

This is a LOUD radio, just need a booming mic and open the hood on the rig and find the VR for AM modulation and turn it up a bit. Thats all you got to do. But on SSB you'll need to turn the mic gain on the radio down little less than half..

Twa77,

I have enjoyed my Uniden PC 244 for years. No complaints, from me or Australia, or England etc. I will probably keep it as a paper weight IF it ever dies. I may soon replace it as my full time mobile and use it as my base.
