I've owned two Lincolns and one 2950. I have never used a 2950dx so I can't comment on its performance. I love the Lincoln, and in my opinion it blows away the 2950. I've also owned two 2990s, and again the Lincoln is hands down the better radio. The receive on the Lincoln is excellent. I'd grab one while they are still available new. If you don't like it, sell it and get a 2950dx. The 2950dx will be around in one form or another for a long time. 199

I was amazed when I got my new Lincoln a few weeks ago. The receiver is really terrific. No mods at all, other than the frequency conversion, it gets GREAT signal/audio reports.

I just got my HR2510.. I've used the 2950DX and I have a 2985DX at home. The 2510 is a better built radio. The buttons are a nice hard plastic. The VFO dial feels nice and tight. The 2950DX may cover more frequencies up top, but I would rather have a HR2510. I wish mine would receive correctly! HR2510+Chipswitch is better than a 2950DX.

As an owner of both radios, I'd say with out a doubt the President Lincoln. You can see the display in more angles. Higher quality all around. It doesn't have as many frequencies and doesn't have the repeater offset, but you can get that with the chipswitch. I especially like the rodger beeps cause they aren't annoyingly loud. I can leave it on all the time and no on complains about it like they did with the 2950. I heard the new 2950 dx models were better, but the old ones were terrible for bleedover. If someone was bleeding you over, you would hear both the person on your channel and the person bleeding you over. Another good thing is the lincoln has a better meter. The one on the rci is slow and well, sucks. I'm not saying I don't like the radio, I'm just saying that the Lincoln is better.

lincoln all the way .RIT comes in very practical, stays well in the same exact frequency. rx is superb, match the rig w/ imax 2000 and texas star hdv and that's it, #1 SSB radio.

Is the receive in those President Lincolns really that great??? Are they truly "high gain" yet "low noise" receivers?? How do the "newer" President Lincoln and/or HR-2510 models differ from the older models?? What is another radio you would compare their receivers to??? What is the radio with the best receiver in your opinions?

I really like my new 2950dx.It has a quieter rx than the old version. It is very stable on ssb.It is really good all around rig.I get great comments on am and ssb alike.I've owned several 2510's and they too are good rigs.Imho the 2 rigs are a toss up!
Whatever turns you on.I don't think you will shed many tears over buying either radio...

I like my 2970 DX and it is pretty clean on the RX end (other than the annoying fuel pump whine noise in my car that i cant get rid of!!) and the radio fits nicely in my small car now that they no longer use the huge heatsink on the radio!!

bruce...

That's because it's real FM in the HR-2510s and Lincolns. There isn't a 10 Meter radio on the market today that has the FM sound, quality and audio of the Lincolns and 2510s. Actually the HR-2510 was designed as a "entry level" mobile HAM radio. The only complaints I ever had with it was the poor frequency (too small) display and no memories.

blackcat...

The HR-2510 and the Lincoln have one of the finest receivers I have ever heard on a 10 Meter radio. Very sensitive and selective. Not to mention a verrrry good noise blanker that even works on SSB.

As a personal note, some years back, my idea of a great radio would have been to have a RCI 2950 transmitter and a HR-2510 receiver rolled into one radio. It never happened. I got tired of waiting so I bought a Kenwood 430 instead.

That was way back before the Lincoln came out. Today it would be the RF Limited Magnum DeltaForce as a transmitter and STILL the HR-2510 OR Lincoln as a receiver. And chances are good that will never happen either. Oh well. Guess it's time for a new Kenwood, but with 6 in it this time.

i have had a lincoln and a 2510. they have exellent recievers. for sideband they get exellent reports. people will ask you if you are on a kenwood. if you don't belive me try it for yourself. i have found that a turner +2 and a lincoln go together like apple pie and ice cream. warm sweet full mellow hf rig tone. i dont talk much am anymore so i cant say much about that. all i can say is that on a meter it keys 10 modulates to 30 watts. not trying to start a war just stating the truth. i just picked up a kenwood ts 50. what a sweet radio, so many features. haven't had a chance to try it on the air. as for the 2950 i know some people that have them and i have never been impressed by them. i think they have akward controls on them.i also don't care for the display. they recieve ok and they sound ok too, but they are not better than the 2510-lincoln. i have not had any experience tith the dx versios. love my lincoln

Well i like my rangers... The display is ok for me as well as the controls they dont bother me at all.. Ive had about all of them 2510s 2950s/70s galaxys and connexes and about everyting else.. Dont care for the low level AM modulation from the 2510s and lincolns but they are great on SSB. But i dunno ive always gone back to rangers. Use SSB but its not my fave mobile mode.. Too many nitpickers that like to pick on guys that are not dead 100% on freq. In the mobile its just not possible to get a radio exactly on freq when you are driving so i use AM as my main mobile mode..
