Anyone ever seen on used one of these amps? Looks like a large wire mesh cage with about 10 or so tubes inside. I saw one at a CB shop once and was curious about it.

Sounds like a Chestnut amp to me. An old guy with the name Chestnut made amps like that. If I remember right, they were black and as you said, wire mesh. Looks kinda hokey to me but they would kick out the watts.

Actually i know were there are about 5 of them for sale!!!!! The ones i saw looked like a D&A inside kinda like a Phantom 500 or so. The ones i saw deadkeyed about 250 watts swing to about 850 or so.. Not too shabby but they use crappy sweep tubes which i despise!

I love the way people that really do not know much call sweep tubes . if run correctly and not running at saturation like many so called comp. amps.. the tubes have much cleaner audo and stand swr much better. learn something. I build both fo myself. tubes sound better.
