They are supposed to be a loud strong AM radio and will do 40 real watts on a honest meter. Early models had some problems and spent some time on the repair bench. Also those that were sent back to RF Limited for repairs did not seem to get quality work done. The local c.b. shop got tired of sendig them back again and again, and then they got the run around on the phone. I would think by now the early bugs have been worked through. |

I am now a proud owner of the A24 and I would not trade it for any radio (heh). The receive audio is awesome. I can hear a mouse fart on it. The xmit is very clean and everyone that I have talked to--bragged on the clarity. |

Santa--I purchased the radio from COPPER for $199 plus the $30 convert and tune. Don't know who did the tune but my power meter reads 150 watts +-10% on full power. One of the techs doubted that. I am well pleased with this radio as a mobile unit with a lil wil (wilson) antenna on a Jeep grand cherokee. I can talk locla 15-30 miles easy if conditions are right. Report9448

I would say you should start saving for a new power meter. It does not matter who does the tune up, you will never see 150 watts out of a 40 watt radio. Still a great radio though, glad it is working well. |

Report9448, Time for a "NEW" SWR/WATT Meter. Your meter is showing over 3 times almost 4 times the power of the radio. They are good radio's but not that good. Lon Tech808 |

Could I possibly have a coax problem that could be giving the false power reading. The swr meter shows a 1.2 on 20 but I have to turn off the swr alert on the radio at full power. Hmmm |

Report9448, Yes, you could have a Coax problem, BUT! with your meter also showing 150 watts I would get another meter QUICKLY! Lon Tech808 |
