Hello, on the back of this amp there are two connectors, neg, positive, are these for a built in power supply for a mobil in home hook up? if so can it be used when only the amp is pluged in and the amp not on, because my radio is to strong for the amp output drive, if I could only use the power from the amp and just the radio watts out it would be great. any thoughts , thank you

Yes they are for a mobile radio hookup. Check the voltage though. When I got mine (new), it was only putting out a little over 11 volts. Then again, I think only once I actually hooked a radio to it. Also, the wires inside going to these poles are kind of small. Don't know how much your radio draws, but you may be able to increase the wire size inside the amp if your so inclined.

Thanks Viking, I have it in line for the base, hooked up a mobil on the back of the terminals ,no luck the radio mobil did not run, possibly I need a converter box to run it from the house, or use it in the mobil,
Thanks again

I'll have to try the setup again. Like I said, I only tried it once and that was when I got the amp new about 8+ years ago.

As for the hookup, just like you said: Coax, radio to amp - amp to antenna. The mobile radio, to a power supply, which in this case is the 2 connectors on the back of the amp. Plug the amp into wall.

You say the radio didn't work, you may have blown the fuse. If I recall correctly, the 12v supply on the back has it's own fuse.

Viking I think this amp is to be connected to a radio in the truck,or car,I have only had the amp for 1 year, it is new . there are instructions for mobil hook up, the fuse is incased in the unit so I will just let it go, I will use the amp for just for my base unit, thanks for your time
