My advice? Don't buy from the first batch of 1000 units, no matter whose name is on it. Let them shake the bugs out of a new design before you sink your cash into it. You can probably tell from that attitude that I don't sell new radios, at all.

10 meter ham radios are not being made in huge quantities. A product that has a production run of 100,000 units will just trash the first 1000 off the line, while they sort out the kinks. A radio made only 5000 or 20,000 at a time gets sold, not trashed as "test units", except maybe the first few dozen.

There's no guarantee, of course, that you'll have trouble with radio #499 off the line, but the odds are higher than they are for unit #4999.

RF Limited has been "just about ready to come out" with the Omega for two years. I don't know what the real hold up is nor when it will actually come to market. The only diff between the Omega and the Delta is cosmetics and the audio section of the Omega mirrors the current Maverick A24.

My Dad taught me long ago about not buying anything "new on the street" as to let everyone else work the bugs out. He never referenced CB radios, but cars, trucks, pretty much everything else. That is the reason I have a personal agreement with 2600's comments above and still stick to that.

That is not to say, or even suggest how you should spend your hard earned dollars, it's purely your call. Just my own philosophy which goes in line with 2600's comments.

Now that being said, just today I received my "Magnum Radios" ball cap for being a good boy and mailing in my warranty card for my new Magnum Delta Force. In the package, it had their sales paper for the OmegaForce S45. It looks extremely similar to the Delta Force, but has a few buttons switched around. One of the features that grabs your attention is the new modulator feature. According to what I'm reading, it will put out (and I quote) "40 watts of swing with 1 watt carrier on AM!" (unquote). Another quote from the sales paper " NEW Modulator feature 40 watts of AM modulation with 1 watt of carrier" (unquote). It also uses two 2SC2312 Final Transistors. Okay, I'm done with the sales pitch. I just wanted you to know what I'm reading in front of me. Most everything else sounds like the Delta Force/Alpha Force combined. Now with that said, let me make a short story even longer.

I purchased my Delta Force new from Copper (completely unmodified/untuned) a short while ago. I received it on a Thursday and began playing with the new toy. I noticed a strangeness in the AMT (All Mode Talkback) that did not sound right. I e-mailed RF Limited the next day (Friday) asking about this. I received a response within hours saying to send it back. Boy was I bummed! I sent it back to them the following Monday. They had claimed being I had a "bad" (my words) radio right out of the box, they would pay for all shipping cost. I sent the radio back (3 day UPS from Florida to California) only hoping they would reimburse me the partial but hoping for the best. I also faxed in all warranty information saying I would mail duplicate copies. It got there Thursday as expected. By Friday, I had a call from the repair center that is was fixed and on it's way back (within 24 hours as promised under warranty). Now, I was impressed, but what really impressed me was after talking to Chris in CA, walking to my mailbox and lo-and-behold, there is complete reimbursement for my shipping cost. I shipped and faxed it in Monday, and had a check in my hand by Friday. Businesses get my repeat business by proper old fashion customer service. I can only say that I was EXTREMELY impressed with RF Limited and their customer service!

Now, to answer the question of " AL, WHAT"S YOUR POINT HERE??? It would seem to me, that with the exception of this new "built in modulator", most of what it has seems to me as off-the-shelf technology that just might be discrepancy free. Look at the early versions of the Delta Force vs, the new, problems addressed/problems solved.

Maybe it's not such a bad idea snagging one up when it comes out (yeah yeah I know....this completely contradicts my earlier statement). But maybe there is some reason to this opinion concerning this radio only. When will it come out? Heck I don't know???

Good hunting.

You are lucky then. I had an early model Delta and after fixing it several times and sending it in once I sold it. It was costing me each time cause I bought it second hand. I now own a newer version and still like them, great radio's. A local shop has had to send alot of radio's back to the same place that fixed yours, some have been sent in several times and come back with the same problem. even mine came back with the noise blanker backwards. Some factory service. I grew tired of waiting for them to re;ease the Omega radio so I gave up on it. And the first batch will have problems for sure.
