I use to have a moonraker 4 but had to sell it. That was back in the mid 80's when they were a little more popular. Now it seems hard to find one. Does any body know were to find a M/R 4 or even a 6 at a resonable price? I live in mid Texas about 60 miles north of abilene and the 4 works good out here against the wind. How good does the 6 stand up to wind? Or should I just stay with getting a 4? Thanks for the help

have not seen a "6" for sale in over 4 years-you will see a "4" on e-bay about every month or so-PLEASE READ THE AD VERY CAREFULLY AND CHECK THE FEEDBACK ON THE SELLER-i bought a pdl2 7 months ago, this thing looks like it has been outside for years (was advertised "like new")-i hope this helps

tram,

Thanks for the comeback. I did find one on ebay but bidding was to high for it. I didn't feel it was worth the money. It was a little worn out. I also found two on eham. I am still tring to get ahold of them. No answer on the phone and no answering machine. Thats what I don't like about buying with out seeing first. I have bought a number of antenna's and radio's and every body always said " oh it is like new". About 25% were telling the truth. Good luck to you and have a good day.

I'll keep a eye out, have you looked at the shooting star? Pretty much same as the moonraker without hubs. I think you can still get them from maco. E-bay is pretty good spot for deals but if it looks to good to be true it probally is! So check feedback of the seller.

Shaun y,

You have to realize that Antenna Specialists dis-continued making the AV-140AV Moonraker 4 and the AV-146 Moonraker 6 and the PDL-II and all of the parts for them.

Trying to find these antennas and parts for them are getting almost inpossible any more. And if you do happen to find one, then you have the problem that if anything should happen to it, parts to fix it are NILL.

MACO make's the COMET, SHOOTING STAR and LASER 400.

Check the links below:

Thats why every body should own telescopec towers, you don't have to worry about finding bucket trucks or safety harneses. The tele. tower I'm getting I am having a hinge plate put on it so all I have to do is lower the tower then lay it over to work on it. I am getting to old to be doing all that climbing. good luck DX431. keep me informed.

I understand RCI2990. I just lucked into my 50ft one. Got it for free. Thats whats nice about living in a small town in the country. My tower had been sitting up next to an old building for years. I looked around and found who the owner was and talked to him. He said if I want it take it.Nothing like good old country folks.

You don't need any bucket truck!!

Just slap it on your shoulder and set it up there like I did!

I knew a fella that had a telescopic 75' tower next to his house that he last cranked down in April 1974 when we had the famous tornado superoutbreak and never used it since. A local got it for free and restored it to full working cond. He moved and i have no idea what ever happened to the tower.....
