Hello there has anyone ever heard of this base radio, My wife went to the Thrift store today and bought it for me, a supprise, it is very clean, not one scratch on it , came right out of the box, I put a power cord on it and attached a 4 pin Galaxy microphone, and asked the truckers for a radio check, sounded great, all works on it, and she only paid 45cents for it. |

YA Buck she really supprised me, it didn't have a mike or power cord,I had one for it, but you should see it, clean as new, I have a portable antenna for it also, and it is so small it can go on trips, wait a minute now I see why she got it for me. |

KARATEBUTCHER If that's the one I'm thinking of, they were a very nice SSB radio in their day. Full of crystals. I could be wrong, but if memory serves me, the board was the old Dynascan that was also used in the 23 channel Cobra 138 mobile and 139 base. If I'm wrong, hopefully someone can correct me. It's been a long, long time since I've seen one. Jeff, kc0gxz. |

Karatebutcher, I remember those radios from the early and mid 70's. They were nice little radios. I was always afraid to buy one, but everytime I talked to someone with a Pinto radio, they always sounded great! Remember this - we did not get peak and tuning done on radios back then like people do today! Let us know how it does for you. Buck is right. That can be a nice part of a collection! I have a 23 channel Tram mobile that sounds just as good as all of these peaked and tuned radios!!! Nice & Clear. Keith in Atlanta |

Hey Karatebutcher. How is the new radio doing?? Are you still getting good reports on this fancy 23 channel radio? I'll give you 50 cents for it, but you will need to take out a loan if you ship it, especially if it is UPS! Anyway, I hope it is doing good for you. Keith in Atlanta |

Keith the radio is doing fine, it is really clean and really gets out there, Have you ever fished at Stone Mountain, I use to fish there a lot under the faces on the mountain this was in the 70's, you know that land was traded for a 22 rifle. We use to live in Fairinton Homes on 1 20 when it was nice in Decatur, and deer hunted in Mantilico, and fished Covington and lake Jackson |

I Just read this post today, brought back some fond memories of days gone by. This radio(JC Pinto 23 channel with the brushed aluminum face)was my very first radio back in the early 70's. My very first contact was to my wifes Uncle who was a die-hard cb-er. Within 3 hours of that contact,he was in my house with his watt neter to see what it was putting out and why it sounded so good. Right out of the box it was putting out 50 watts. Needless to say I put finals in it before the year was up. I also had to put a larger ciccut breaker in the fuse box because it kept tripping it. That's what made me the power hungry cb-er I am today. Thanks for bringing back those old memories. |
