Belden has a new RG-8x mini coax boasting 5 to 10% less loss than regular mini coax. Anyone seen any of this coax or better yet, used any?

no i try not to use that stuff much unless in mobile or for testing out antennas on the test tower.

but 5-10% would help out a bit anyway.

This coax is Belden 7008A and it's claim is to be 5 to 10% less loss than regular mini cable. If this is true it's pretty impressive.

mikefromms,
look up times microwave cable they have a lmr 240 and a lmr 300 cable of similar size to mini 8 that
blows mini 8 to smitherines. and its afordable

coarse i think this is one area that gets a low buget with alot of guy's. id rather put more money in my antenna system and feedlines than in my radio system.

with a healthy antenna system (coax included)you can make a $30 radio sound big and on the other side of the coin a cheap antenna system can make a $600 radio sound poor.

give times a look and tell me what you think.

How can Belden claim 5 to 10% less loss? Don't they even know which it is? Even at 10%, that's only 1/10 less loss!!

5 to 10% less loss? In my opinion, it's hardly worth the bother and expense to replace what you're already using unless you are upgrading from Radio Shack stuff. Then I can understand the change-over.

Point taken. Of course, if a person is only replacing 45 feet of coax it is not nearly as critical (and only using 10, 11 meters) as a run of 150 or more feet. As implied, this mini 8 will be a great improvement over Rat Shack coax.

Sorry Bullet. LOL. That was a good one.

I didn't realize that the words "coax" and "Radio Shack" are words that ARE NOT to be used in the same sentence on this forum.

I've only been on Coppers Forum about 4 months now and have yet to receive my Ethics Manual.

Please forgive me. I hope I didn't offend anyone. It won't happen again my friend. I now know better.
