Hello, what does everyone think of these?? How durable and reliable do you feel they are?? How much output have you obtained from one of these?

Think my price there in the 350.00 range. Nice amps I used a modulator with mine and got 750 out of it. Never used it much on ssb though so couldnt tell you about ssb. The trick is to have at least a 100 amp altenator.

Put a fan on it, feed and ground it well, drive it VERY modestly, keep the output carrier to about 150 max, should produce about 550w peak and last fine.

What are the pros and cons of this amplifier, in comparison to say a comp box, such as an X-force and/or Davemade amp?

It does not compare to a X-Force or Davemade. Mine ran very hot and would just top 500 watts. Crafter are you sure you used a driver amp on a un-modified 667, cause the 667 is a 1 driving 4 and does not need more then 1.5 watts dead key and 25 er less of swing watts. I do like Texas Star but they will not run with the Comp amps.

Sorry mine wasnt a 667v just a 667, just the 4 transistors seems like they were 2290's but changed to 2879's. True on the competition point, but for the money you cant go wrong I dont think....
Depends of if he's going to run several altenators but hey dont go there, go AC and be done with it the SKY'S THE LIMIT CLASS...

The pro would be if you like the way it looks. The only "comp" box that would have comparable features and similar performance would be the Magna Force 600 with optional preamp. Both would have similar output power and ssb capable but the 600 would be a high drive unit fan cooled and longevity would be much greater as well as versatility and warranty.

10-4 on the Texas Star 500 ( 4 - 2879's )
or maybe the 400 ( 4 - 2290's )
