HI EVERYONE,
i have a few question on this radio rci 2995.iam thinking of buying it an wanted some opions first before i do. how would u compare this againts the 2990 an how about power. what type of watts would i get on the AM side after a tune up. an how would u compare it lets say a Galaxy 2527.right now i have a saturn turbo not a bad radio but i only get about a 50watt put out on AM for a dead key and the band range is 26,000 to 31,999. so if u would let me know what u think of this radio. tks.....Dan

go to this site and look at 10 meter radios youll see them all and can compare the features.

as for power they all do about the same.

as for a 50 watt dead key i wouldnt want mine doing that. i set mine to key from 5- 40 watts but always ran it under 20 watts dead key, mostly at 5watts and swing 75 watts from this setting. it maxed out at 150+ watts which is what it suppost to do.

With the new 2995, you will be very limited as to what you can do inside the radio. The new RCI DX models are all using Surface Mount Technology. Very inexpensive to produce. If you have a 2990, keep it. At least you may be able to repair it yourself.

50 watts is about right on your Galaxy 2527. SSB power should show you around 150 at least. If it doesn't and you think there is a problem, email me and we'll get together on it. kc0gxz@aol.com

the turbo and 2990 are the same radio and go from 26-32 mhz.

the 2990dx and 2995 both are 24-32mhz just like all the 29**dx (smt)series radios. they all four run two 2sc2290 transisters rated at 80 watts pep a piece.
keep in mind that no amplifier is 100% effiecent. most fall in at 60-70 percent. so keep this in mind when you hear someone say mines doing 200+ watts cause its just plain harmonics playing with the meter.
(my dosy used to show mine at 200+)(43p 150)

these can also be converted easy to go 21 to 29mhz,23 channel only no A channels, and 7mhz.(ive never checked to see if it txed on freq at 7 mhz though.
