Both are fine choices. That's the best I can give with limited information. Both talk Am and SSb just fine. Both will need converted to 11 meters for CB Alsworld |

Texas star has a much longer track record, but both amps seem to work. I know that a Texas star will take a lot of abuse, I dont know about the RM. |

HEY SAL, if u want a good amp buy a X - FORCE amp they are pretty resonable and they are much better amp's than T/S but if i had to choice between the T/S and the RM amp i would get the T/S 667V amp.....DAN |

I think they are all good amps. Keep an eye on the X-Force though, great amps but many are better on AM only (not all of them though). If you like those but for SSB as well, maybe a Magna Force would suit you better concerning those two particularly. I like the RM amps for sure, but for higher watts, in steps the Texas Star and of course X/Magna Force. Too bad RM doesn't make a higher watt mobile than the 500. Man they sound good on both AM and SSB! Alsworld |

sal Since you didn't mention what power range you are considering, I'll put it this way. 350 watts and above, I would go with the Texas Star. Pig040 hit the nail right on the head when he said that the Texas star has a much longer track record and will take quite a bit of abuse. I like the relays that TS uses in their amps. I never did favor the tiny relays that most of the other Brands use. One reason is because I've had to replace so many of them. The Texas Stars are tough amps and Copper has them fairly priced. As far as the RM amplifiers go, I have to admit that I was VERY skeptical about them at first. After I received my first order of six KL-300s to my shop, my skeptism quickly turned to surprise. I did the simple 11 meter conversion on all of them and then tested all of them to be sure that I didn't receive one that may have a problem. With a dead-key of 1.5 watts and lightly swinging to 8-10 watts, these little KL-300's swung to an easy 200+ watts. Even better was their SSB performance. With the radio peaking 18-20 watts, the KL-300's hit the 300 watt mark on my Bird meter. And that's what really blew me away. I couldn't believe I was getting that kind of easily obtained power from a pair of 1446's. And not only that, these amps aren't even using 10 gauge wire. Dollar for dollar, the price of these little amplifiers CAN'T be beat. I'm not an expert on amplifiers but I do know that if you want a mobile amp in the 300-500 watt range and DON'T want to spend almost a buck a watt, the KL amps are the way to go. And just so you know, I do not work for or am I affiliated with Copper in any way shape or form. But I do know for a fact that no one CAN or WILL sell theses amps cheaper than Copper. Jeff, kc0gxz. |

Not and get a decent warranty! I'm sure everyone can testify to that. Its worth paying 10.00 more. |
