I had a 2990DX it was a nice base radio 150 watts built in power supply and has been replaced by the 2995DX which is similar just no echo I think they are a great line of radios made by RCI

You can go to ranger web page and look at it

I have heard of them (2900, not 2990)...I heard they were real problem children, lot's of bugs, failures, etc...I'd stay away if I were you...

RCI 2990

It was one of RCI's first 10 Meter radios. If memory serves me correctly, it was their first dual final radio. Plagued with problems, it was soon replaced with the 2950, a much better radio.

If you own one of these old 2900s, keep it. They are rather rare today. They're not really worth much, but just the same, I wouldn't mind having one myself in pristeen condition.

I had an original 2900. back in 1988. What a hunk of junk that thing was. It warbbled on both tx and rx. I sent it back 3 times to get fixed only to have the same problem each time it came back. I finnaly got to exchange it for a new HR-2510. A rig I still have today(I think it is in the closet someware????) My advice. STAY AWAY from this rig.

I got an RCI 2900 back in 1990. It was a nice looking radio. It performed fairly good on AM and FM, but SSB warbled horribly. SSB is my favorite mode, so I was quite disappointed when I found that it warbled.
