I was thinking of buying the texas star 667 to use on the 11 meter band.and Ive been hearing that you need to get them converted to 11 meter.how is this done? Ive talked to some people who run these amps and they say just use it the 10 meter and 11 meter are so close that it doesent matter to the amp. is this true?also can I run a palomar 225 on 11 meter right out of the box or does that need the mod too? thanks for any help 73's

Use it out of the box unless its sold as a cw amp if it is e-mail me I'll send you the instructions on how to convert it over. I really liked my 667v I had changed the finals in mine to 2sc2879's from the 2290's with minor changes to the bias.

How much watts does the texas star 350v puts out?
I recently bought 1 from copper and to me its not putting out 300 watts. My antenna is matched properly if thats what some may ask.Its down at 1.1 on the SWR scale. What really is the delay button at the back for? Is it for when u are on side band?Maybe someone can tell me whats the difference between the ordinary tx 350 and the 350v.

Yes the switch is for ssb. The 350v means it has a variable power knob on the front.

the drive level is like 20 watts on the AM but i turned down the power on the outside of the radio thinking that im driving it too much and still the same problem.By the way the word HDV ...doesn't it stand for high drive? I think that i can drive anything into this amp to produce the output watts .Plz tell me more.

Hello guys i found the problem with my 350hdv amp.The wires on the inside for the variable control were in the wrong position so i switched them. This was done after visiting a website and seeing the diagram of the schematic.Thx to all who answered to my questions in order to help me.

Crafter, you have me wondering when you say you changed the 2290'sssss ? The 667 is one 2290 driving four 2879's. Did you just change the one pill then ? I'm not seeing the point in doing this unless you have a very hot radio in front of the amp. Even so there will be very little difference in output, no one will hear 50 watts. Just curious thats all.

I have seen some 667's with 2290's instead of 2879's. Also use wire strap across finals to help with heat I now use a metal fin soldered in that helps get rid of heat also. Most of the time people drive it using a smaller amp and I make a toggle to bypass the driver final, thus a ts500. Never figured why they buy a 600 just to switch it out(the driver). Thus a ts 250v driving a ts667 driving a ts3200 sure gets expensive to run DC better off doing AC. Whatever they want though more money than sense! Like you say and I know anything over 600 watts is not needed anyway. My one thing I ask of them is not to talk while in my neighborhood man its like class "C".
