Hi guys. I currently run a Wilson 500 mag mount on my car. What advantage if any, would i have by going to a Wilson 1000? I mainly use the 500 because with my business travels, I get into a lot of parking garages and also fast foood drive throughs. The 500 hits them all, but I am willing to make the sacrifice IF the 1000 would help me better on dx. Local is no big thing. I love to listen on 38 lsb, and just wondering if I am cheating myself by using 500 vs. 1000. Thanks for your input.

the 500 hundred works just fine for dx.i,ve had
both 500&1000 and didnt see any difference on dx.
it all depends on conditions. save your money and
go out for a nice dinner.

Probably just the difference in one handling 500 watts and the other 1000 watts. Afterall, that's all they say is the difference between the 1000 and 5000 when it comes to performance. The nice dinner sounds like a good choice.

Keith, my girlfriend had the "little wil" on her car as her first antenna. Then I bought her the Wilson 1000 and it made a world of difference. Also when she has to go into a paking garage, she just unscrews the coil and whip and puts it inside her car. they even give you a plastic cap to screw into the base so that no water or dirt gets inside.

Whoa Nellie! Wilson really has this thing figured out all the way. How much longer is the W-1000 than the W-500?

I'm too lazy to read the ads. Maybe I'll just buy one and see for myself. LOL.

Cm3885, what other mobile antennas have you run?
Also, how is your W-1000 mounted mag, hole in roof?

Soory for the delay Mike. I have a wilson silverload but i dont use it.... Yet anyways. I had it mounted to my trunk but the mount failed and the ground kept failing whenever id go down the highway at speed. Im thinking about getting a tri mag mount( one of those big ones that Copper sells) and see if that antenna will work better than the wilson 100 i have on my car now.. I love my W 1000 and have had it for like forever but im just curious if my silverload whip will out talk and out hear the W 1000...

What I don't understand about the Wilson 1000 is the wattage rating. It ways the Wilson 1000 is rated at 3kW - but yet it comes with RU58 Coax which is only rated for 500W. What gives?
