The President Washington is a great basestation. I used to have one years ago. With a few mods, the radio really booms. Depending on the noise conditions on the regular 40 channels.. You may want to get additional channels put in to the radio. In NY, the regular 40 channels are useless for skip in the day time. Everyone is keying over each other. With a good antenna setup, its very possible to work DX with stock wattage. I talked to Canada on ch38 LSB on my stock wattage Uniden Grant. The Grant has a lot in common with the Washington.

The usual stuff, channels, modulation, power. What I would recommend is get the radio tuned and tweaked. Then just buy an amp for it.

If you ever need to make repairs, be adbvised that there are two versions of the President Washington. The older version is in Sams Photofact CB-128; the newer in CB-222

well the luck of finding one didnt hold up to be the luck of buying one. i was expecting the law of supply and demand to possibly take the price up some, but it was way to high for me. guess i'll stick with my 2950. thanks anyway.

Hey Applejack, I messed up. I was thinking of a Uniden base station. I think it was called Washington, Grant or something, but can't remember. Sorry for the mistake.
Somebody help me here. I forgot the name of the Uniden 40 channel ssb/am base station. It has been discontinued, but was still a good base from what I used to hear. Thanks.

What was a President Washington anyway?

It is a 40 Channel AM/SSB Base Radio that can be used as a Mobile also.
