Oldpirate, Look to the Left of the Forum here and you will see: Tools Mic. Wiring Frequency Chart Modification List Click on Modification List and it will give you the Peak & Tune information on the TRC-453. Hope this helps. Lon Tech808 |

Oldpirate Wow. Its been a long time since I've even seen one of them. If you're looking to "open" it up a little, VR-10 controls the A/M power and VR-6 will allow for a little more SSB power and VR-5 will allow for more modulation. Jeff |

This radio works so well and is so reliable that to the existing 40 channels I had the up band added (27.415 up) and the Kiwi band ( 40 channels 26.330 to 26.770mhz). A digital slide was also incorporated to enable us to use the channels ending in 0. The tech who did this work lives in Queensland Australia and can do these alterations to most Cb radio's.

Further to my earlier commments on my Realistic TRC 453 I just got my hands on a Yaesu SWR meter and found it was actually swinging to 28watts so now I know someone has tweaked it. I use an Astatic D104m6b microphone but can only have the modulation on three or it overdrives the amp. |

I love those little radio's and I will tell you why! Because they fit into modern car's with next to no space for a large chassis radio. Second they where made by Uniden so they are well built. They are rock steady on SSB which is where I spend most of my time when the sun set's. They have decent AM audio as well sure not Cybernet Chassis AM audio like the RCI, Cobra 148 GTL, Uniden Grant XL, Connex,Galaxy clones but still good AM audio. If you need a radio that is going to be turned down to 1-3 watt's to match up with an amp why use some big powerful dual final beast on a low drive linear when something like this will get the job done. If you want you can add Expo kit to them or a speech processor to bring that audio right up to par with anything else out their. All in this tiny little package....Oh and if you add a super slide diode and you have a perfect SSB or AM machine ready to feed the most powerful linear |
